Help L.A. put big banks on notice.

On Tuesday, Los Angeles City Councilmember Richard Alarcon is introducing a bill that would set high standards for banks to meet in order to do business with the city of L.A. The message to bankers is clear: if your bank continues to ravage our communities, you don't get a dime of taxpayers' money. Period.

Los Angeles is the second biggest city in the country. If this bill passes, it will send a message so loud, they'll hear it all the way on Wall Street.

You can help get this bill passed. Use the form to the right to submit your testimony in support of Councilmember Alarcon's efforts.

You can use your personal experiences to illustrate how big banks have been harmful to communities across the country. And let them know that taxpayers everywhere are calling for their tax dollars to be taken out of big banks that are keeping our economy down.

Remember to be civil in your testimony - it will be delivered to the City Council and printed in the official record of the hearing.

To the members of the L.A. City Council:

I am writing in support of Councilmember Alarcon's proposed bill to set higher standards for the banks with which Los Angeles conducts business. I ask that you include this testimony in the written record.

In tough economic times, taxpayers' money should not be spent on banks that are hurting our communities, squeezing small businesses, and ravaging critical state services.
