Help Maryland put big banks on notice.

On Wednesday, the Maryland legislature is holding a hearing on moving the state's money out of the big Wall Street banks.

We've already been able to pass similar legislation at the city level, but Maryland could be the very first state to change its bad relationship with the big banks.

Already, the big banks and the Maryland Bankers Association are fighting this bill. They like things just the way they are.

Help pass this bill into law; tell the legislature about your experience with the big banks using the form to the right.

Across Maryland, families have already started moving their money out of the big firms that crashed our economy and into community banks. But, the state is still sending millions of our tax dollars to Wall Street through routine financial transactions. The bill that's being considered on Wednesday would help put a stop to that - injecting millions of dollars back into Maryland and creating hundreds of new Maryland jobs in the process.

Tell lawmakers our tax dollars should stay here in Maryland - not sent to line the pockets of Wall Street bankers.

To the members of the Maryland legislature:

I am writing in support of the proposed bill to give preference to community banks over giant Wall Street firms.

In tough economic times, taxpayers' money should not be spent on banks that are hurting our communities, squeezing small businesses, and ravaging critical state services.
