Help L.A. put the big banks on notice.

1:00pm PT · February 23, 2010
  • WHAT: Hearing on a bill to do taxpayer-funded business only with banks that meet high standards.
  • WHO: Members of the L.A. City Council and over 100 L.A. workers and concerned citizens.
  • WHERE: L.A. City Hall, 200 North Spring St., Los Angeles, CA 90012 [Google Maps]

On Tuesday, Los Angeles City Councilmember Richard Alarcon, who voted against job cuts for L.A. workers, is moving a bill that would set high standards for banks to meet in order to do business with the city of L.A. The message to bankers is clear: if your continue to drive our city into deficit with complicated financial arrangements, we'll take our business elsewhere. Period.

Help get this bill passed. Join us at the hearing on Tuesday.
