Campaign for Quality Services

Support Stronger Standards

Our children depend on a stable and well-trained workforce to prepare meals that are healthy. Our hospitals depend on safe and clean environments. Yet, by failing to provide adequate training, wages and benefits, we foster a work environment that produces high turnover, poor morale, and inconsistent service.

Simple, basic standards make all the difference for our children, our patients, and in our communities. But it’s a lack of investment in our community members that can reduce the quality necessary to provide adequate services:

  • While school meals are among the country’s strongest anti-hunger programs, many K-12 school food service workers don’t have access to affordable health insurance or paid sick days, forcing them to choose between going to work while sick or losing a day’s pay for their families.
  • Hospital food service workers need to have the ability to create better meals for people on special or restricted diets.
  • When janitors receive proper training, they can learn how to use products and techniques that reduce exposure to harsh chemicals and how to better identify water leaks and mold growth.

It’s time that we begin to raise these standards, for the sake of all of our community members. Support stronger standards by signing the form to the right. →
