At the national level, consumer activity represents 70% of the American economy. In Montana, it represents the difference between survival and failure for the small businesses that keep our state running. Moreover, the skyrocketing cost of health care is crippling small businesses. Our health care premiums are almost 20% higher than those paid by large businesses. Many small Montana businesses struggle to afford health care for themselves or their employees.
The Change that Works Small Business Committee promotes Montana's small businesses which support affordable health care. And one to support affordable health care, is by supporting the Employee Free Choice Act. We believe in helping our small business owners keep their customers by increasing the strength of the middle class that supports them- and that happens when we support local unions:
