As a small business owner, you can speak firsthand to the impact that this economic recession has had on our communities. At the national level, consumer activity represents 70% of the American economy. Here in Louisiana, it represents the difference between survival and failure for businesses such as my own. Moreover, the skyrocketing cost of health care is crippling small businesses. Our health care premiums are almost 20% higher than those paid by large businesses. Many of us can no longer afford health care for ourselves or our employees.
The Change that Works Small Business Committee promotes Louisiana’s small businesses which support affordable health care. We believe that healthy families translate into a stronger local economy and community and that’s good for businesses. As a member of the Louisiana Change That Works Small Business Committee, I am committed to ensuring that Senators Landrieu and Vitter - and the entire Louisiana Congressional delegation - hear our voices.
