A Private Company Wants to Take Over Libraries.

Residents in Santa Clarita, California are working to stop a private company from taking over their public library system. The City Council abruptly voted last month to allow L.S.S.I. to take over the city's libraries. Now we're demanding that the Santa Clarita City Council withdraw their vote and allow for a public comment session.

We can stop this from happening. Sign the petition, and we'll deliver it to the City Council. →

"A library is the heart of the community.

I'm in favor of private enterprise, but I can't feel comfortable with what the city is doing here."

- Jane Hanson, Santa Clarita Resident

Dear Santa Clarita City Council Members,
to urge the withdrawal of your decision to privatize the city's public libraries, and to conduct public hearings for Santa Clarita residents to comment on this issue.

Public libraries strengthen our communities, our families, and our local businesses.

Our libraries are not for sale. We stand with the library patrons and employees of the Santa Clarita library system, and are opposed to hiring L.S.S.I. to manage, operate and direct the local library system.
