As a small business owner, you can speak firsthand to the impact that this economic recession has had on our communities. At the national level, consumer activity represents 70% of the American economy. Here in Arkansas, it represents the difference between survival and failure for businesses such as my own. Moreover, the skyrocketing cost of health care is crippling small businesses. Our health care premiums are almost 20% higher than those paid by large businesses. Many of us can no longer afford health care for ourselves or our employees.
The Change that Works Small Business Committee promotes Arkansas’s small businesses which support affordable health care. We believe that healthy families translate into a stronger local economy and community and that’s good for businesses. As a member of the Arkansas Change That Works Small Business Committee, I am committed to ensuring that Senators Lincoln and Pryor - and the entire Arkansas Congressional delegation - hear our voices.
